Wallflower

Here’s the cover, above, of Diana Krall’s new album, Wallflower. Back in June Marlbank reported the album from the superstar Canadian was due in the States in September with a UK release of 6 October. Well Amazon are now indicating 13 October for the UK and the rest of the world, and in the States it’s gone back, as mentioned on Kralls website, to 21 October.

Billed as an album of popular songs from the 1960s to the present day the Verve album has been produced by the labels chair David Foster, and songs on it include The Eagles’ ‘Desperado’, The Mamas & The Papas’ ‘California Dreamin’, Elton John’s, ‘Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word,’ and Harry Nilsson’s ‘Everybody’s Talkin’.’

On paper, it’s the biggest bid on Krall’s part for a mainstream record-buying audience to date.

The title track is a Bob Dylan song that dates back to 1971 (‘Wallflower, wallflower/Won’t you dance with me?’ the plea at the centre of the lyric) a song released in his Bobness’ The Bootleg Series Vol. 10: Another Self Portrait (1969–1971) last year.
