Trish Clowes

Navigating jazz and classical terrain has become Trish Clowes’ singular direction and the saxophonist continues to take her individual style to new audiences, returning in the autumn to tour with her quartet. The BBC New Generation saxophonist, the force behind the genre-melting Emulsion festival, is on the road with Troyka guitarist Chris Montague, Scottish National Jazz Orchestra double bassist Calum Gourlay, and his fellow Kit Downes Golden trio colleague, drummer James Maddren.

Clowes who debuted with Tangent four years ago followed with the release in 2012 of And In the Night-Time She is There, which featured Montague, Gourlay, and Maddren among the line-up. The dates of the tour are in early-October, beginning with the Gateway, Shrewsbury on 2 October, then the Atrium Café Clitheroe (3), Calstock Arts Centre, Calstock (4), the St Lawrence chapel, Ashburton (5), and St Ives Jazz Club, Cornwall (7). Before that there's a special ‘Under Your Wing’ concert to be recorded for Radio 3 jazz programme Jazz Line-Up that acts to showcase a lesser known part of Clowes work, her songwriting side. This is at Kings Place in London on 27 September where Clowes is joined by singer Norma Winstone and a chamber-jazz ensemble that includes guitarist Mike Walker from the Impossible Gentlemen.
