Pianist Cédric Hanriot (Grooovematic) and trumpeter Jason Palmer (Grace Kelly quintet) with saxophonist Donny McCaslin, bassist Michael Janisch, and drummer Clarence Penn are touring as City of Poets in September with UK dates including a live recording date for Whirlwind Recordings at Pizza Express Jazz Club in London on 22 September, and Dempseys, Cardiff next day. Hanriot and Palmer have written a Messiaen-inspired three-movement suite that acts as a musical homage to sci-fi writer Dan Simmons.
