Ahead of recording a new album next month Brass Jaw trumpeter Ryan Quigley is to head up a short quintet tour hitting the Jazz Bar, Edinburgh on 23 July, Stereo, Glasgow next day, Urban Coffee Church Street, Birmingham lunchtime on 25 July, and then Pizza Express Jazz Club, London on 26 July (lunchtime). Having signed a solo deal with London label Whirlwind Recordings, Quigley is using Blind Faith legend Steve Winwood’s studio in the Cotswolds for the two-day recording session featuring the touring quintet, that's Winwood saxophonist Paul Booth joining the Scot, Michael Janisch on double bass, Steve Hamilton on piano, and Clarence Penn, who features alongside Quigley on the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra’s excellent American Adventure, drums.
