Money Jungle

Jazz record producer Alan Douglas died at the weekend in Paris, after a fall according to one report. Douglas A&Rd for United Artists in the 60s and produced Money Jungle the only time Duke Ellington, Max Roach, and Charles Mingus played together on a record. He became friends with Jimi Hendrix and controversially held Hendrix’s recorded music rights after the guitarist's death for many years until the mid-1990s, issuing reworked material and archive releases. Paying tribute to Douglas drummer Terri-Lyne Carrington, who won the Grammy for best instrumental jazz album this year for Money Jungle: Provocative In Blue, wrote on her Facebook page: “Thank you Alan Douglas for producing the iconic Money Jungle as well as many other great recordings in various genres. Thanks for your vision, dedication to the music and commitment to creativity. Rest in Peace.”
