Now gaining a UK/Ireland release of 30 June the folk duo setting seems to suit Kate McGarry surprisingly well and charmed the critics on its US release earlier this year. Accompanied by McGarry’s husband Keith Ganz on guitar on this new Sunnyside release, recorded in front of an audience at a studio in North Carolina during the summer of 2012, singers Theo Bleckmann and Gian Slater guest on Todd Rundgren’s ‘Pretending to Care’. Highlights include the opening cover of Paul Simon’s ‘American Tune’ above; and McGarry’s beguiling ‘Ten Little Indians’ a song that incorporates elements of the spiritual ‘Swing Low Sweet Chariot.’
