Eclectic jazz label Lyte Records, home to Jason Rebello, Jean Toussaint, and Nigel Mooney, has signed forward thinking Irish traditional music band Moxie seen here performing What Lies Behind the Wall. Lyte will release Planted the label debut of Moxie, a five piece comprised of Ted Kelly tenor banjo, Jos Kelly button accordion/keyboard, Darren Roche button accordion, Cillian Doheny tenor banjo/guitar, and Paddy Hazelton percussion, this summer. Moxie fuse jazz, rock, bluegrass, and world music with traditional Irish music. Label head David Lyttle saw Moxie perform at the Sligo Jazz Festival last year around the time he was also working with members of the band on ‘The Barinthus Suite’ a piece the drummer co-wrote with NoCrows’ bassist Eddie Lee whose own album Waiting for the Tide is released this month.
