Jazz Crusaders trombonist Wayne Henderson has died in Los Angeles, passing away on Saturday aged 74, it has been reported in the States.

Henderson co-founded the Jazz Crusaders, later simply the Crusaders, a band that saw huge success with its fusing of elements from jazz, funk, soul, R&B, rock, Latin, and gospel. The Houston-born trombonist later produced albums for Patti Austin, Jean Carne, Bill Withers, Ronnie Laws, and Ramsey Lewis, among others and performed in revived versions of the Crusaders in more recent years.
