Jazz Ahead has announced that the Danish jazz photographer Jan Persson has been awarded the Skoda Prize, a 15,000-euro award given each year by the Bremen-based expo’s organisers. Persson will be presented with the award during Jazz Ahead in April. The work of Persson, 70, from his Copenhagen base, since the early-1960s has become a key part of the music’s enduring look with photos of his included in dozens of albums over the years as well as gracing the pages of Downbeat, Jazz Special, and dozens of other titles around the world.
