Circularity

Julian Argüelles has signed to Rome-based label Cam Jazz, and the Loose Tubes saxophonist’s debut for the label, Circularity, is to be released on 10 March, the labels UK distributor Harmonia Mundi has confirmed.

Birmingham-born Argüelles, 48, who made his name in the 1990s with the Babel label's Home Truths, Scapes, and Skull View, plays tenor and soprano saxophones on this new album joined by pianist and Cam Jazz label mate John Taylor, bass don Dave Holland, and Spin Marvel drummer Martin France for this acoustic set comprised of original Argüelles material written for the quartet.

Recorded in Sussex last summer tracks are ‘Triality’, ‘Lardy Dardy’, ‘Circularity’, ‘A Simple Question’, ‘Unopened Letter’, ‘Wilderness’, ‘Another Escapade’, and ‘A Lifelong Moment.’

Arguelles, who was a member of Loose Tubes from 1985-89, joins the reformed band playing baritone sax in the line-up for festival and club dates in the spring.
