This video is worth a look, ahead of the release of Tipping Point, introducing jazz violinist/mandolinist Jason Anick’s latest album released in mid-February. The album, flavoured initially by the gypsy jazz stylings belovèd of Stéphane Grappelli, features originals by Anick, one of the youngest of Boston music college Berklee’s teaching staff, in addition to the well loved standard  ‘My One and Only Love’ familiar from 1963’s John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman, as well as Ornette Coleman’s ‘Turnaround’ and Horace Silver’s ‘Peace’, among other selections. Anick is joined by three configurations of players in quartet and quintet settings on Tipping Point with bandmates taking part who include pianist Jason Yeager, bassist Greg Loughman, drummer Mike Connors, and alto saxophonist Clay Lyons. The album was recorded in 2012 and is released on the Magic Fiddle Music label.
