Bathed in Lightning

Jawbone, whose books since beginning operation in 2007 have included Bill Bruford: The Autobiography and more recently Gary Lucas’ Touched By Grace, have set a publication date of 6 March for their new book about jazz guitar great John McLaughlin.

Titled Bathed in Lightning: John McLaughlin, the 60s and the Emerald Beyond it’s written by Colin Harper, author of Dazzling Stranger: Bert Jansch and the British Folk and Blues Revival, and weighs in at some 480 pages in paperback.

The book draws on new interview material and charts McLaughlin’s career back to the 1950s, long before the perceived “overnight success” of the Mahavishnu Orchestra in the early-1970s. The book will also be available as an expanded ebook featuring additional chapters, discographies, concert listings, and other material.
