Parliamentary

Online voting via the Jazz Services website opens for the Parliamentary Jazz Awards and will continue until noon on 3 February, the organisers have announced.

The awards, to be held in the House of Commons Terrace Pavilion on 14 May, are organised by the All Party Parliamentary Jazz Appreciation Group (APPJAG), and supported by music licensing company PPL in conjunction with Jazz Services, JazzUK, Jazzwise, and the Jazz Section of the Musicians’ Union.

A new category this year is Jazz Newcomer of the Year, and instead of Musician of the Year two categories take its place: Instrumentalist of the Year, and Vocalist of the Year.

Last year's winners included Guy Barker named as jazz musician of the year, and Saltash Bells in the album of the year category with The Impossible Gentlemen picking up the ensemble of the year award, and the Vortex winning in the live jazz category.
