Gregory Porter has been nominated for ‘Hey Laura’ from Blue Note album Liquid Spirit in the best traditional R&B performance category of the nominations for the 56th Grammy awards. Liquid Spirit was also nominated in the jazz vocals category along with The World According to Andy Bey by Andy Bey (Highnote Records); Attachments by Lorraine Feather (Jazzed Media); Womanchild by the debuting Cécile McLorin Salvant (Mack Avenue Records); and After Blue by Tierney Sutton (BFM Jazz).

Wayne Shorter, Donny McCaslin, Fred Hersch, Paquito d’Rivera and Terence Blanchard were nominated for best improvised jazz solo; while the best jazz instrumental album nominations were Guided Tour by The New Gary Burton Quartet (Mack Avenue Records);  Money Jungle: Provocative in Blue by Terri Lyne Carrington (Concord Jazz); Life Forum by Gerald Clayton (Concord Jazz); Pushing the World Away by Kenny Garrett (Mack Avenue Records); and Out Here by the Christian McBride Trio (Mack Avenue Records).

In Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album, nominations were Brooklyn Babylon by Darcy James Argue's Secret Society (New Amsterdam Records); Night in Calisia by Randy Brecker, Włodek Pawlik Trio & Kalisz Philharmonic (Summit Records); Wild Beauty by the Brussels Jazz Orchestra featuring Joe Lovano (Half Note); March Sublime by Alan Ferber (Sunnyside Records); and Intrada by the Dave Slonaker Big Band (Origin Records).

Best Latin Jazz Album nominations were La Noche Más Noche Más Larga by Buika (Warner Music Spain), Song For Maura by Paquito D'Rivera And Trio Corrente (Sunnyside Records/Paquito Records); YO by Roberto Fonseca (Concord Jazz); Eggun by Omar Sosa (Otá Records); and Latin Jazz-Jazz Latin by Wayne Wallace Latin Jazz Quintet (Patois Records).
