Cardiff-based indie jazz label Edition Records has signed saxophonist-composer Tim Garland, a member of Chick Corea's band The Vigil, for a double album release the label says will come out in May 2014.

The new project brings together two directly related projects, ‘Songs to the North Sky’, shortlisted for a British Composer Award, with Garland joined by the Royal Northern Sinfonia, bassist John Patitucci of the Wayne Shorter Quartet, and ex-Gilad Atzmon percussionist Asaf Sirkis on the first disc.

The second CD then expands Garland's long running Lighthouse concept with pianist Geoffrey Keezer, Jason Rebello and John Turville featuring, as well as Sirkis, plus guitarists Ant Law and Don Paterson (the poet who appeared with Garland in the seminal jazz-folk band Lammas).
