Stan Tracey won’t be performing at his EFG London Jazz Festival quintet gig scheduled for the South Bank Centre on the closing afternoon of the London Jazz Festival on Sunday as the pianist-composer who is 86 is not well enough to perform on this occasion at the QEH. Instead Tracey’s suite ‘The Flying Pig’ will be performed by a band featuring trumpeter Mark Armstrong, tenor saxophonist Simon Allen, bassist Andy Cleyndert, Tracey’s son drummer Clark Tracey, pianist Steve Melling. Britjazz reeds legend John Surman will also guest.
