The National Concert Hall in Dublin has confirmed a rare solo piano concert on 1 December in the main auditorium of An Ceoláras Náisiúnta to be performed by Brad Mehldau, one of the chief jazz highlights of the autumn in the Irish capital's jazz calendar. Mehldau, the Keith Jarrett of his generation, will play the Earlsfort Terrace venue on 1 December.

Other NCH gigs coming up include a Paul G Smyth solo piano concert in the Kevin Barry Room on 17 October; Melanie O’Reilly’s Celtic Jazz Journey on 30 October in the John Field Room; and Mr Acker Bilk and Chris Barber in the main auditorium on 25 November.

Mehldau’s appearance will bookend a remarkable year for jazz at the NCH with the first appearance by Keith Jarrett in Ireland in 30 years hosted by the venue earlier in the year.
