Prog jazz and jazz-rock guitar icon Allan Holdsworth has cancelled a run of dates scheduled for November. The guitarist, who now lives in California, was to have performed with a band to have included bassist Jimmy Haslip and drummer Virgil Donati at dates in Chesterfield, Manchester, High Wycombe, and London, among other locations. The website of Chesterfield venue Real Time Live informs customers that the gig is: “Postponed due to illness, to be rescheduled in 2014,” while the Borderline London venue's website advises "refunds are available from point of purchase." Holdsworth is seen as a primary inspiration for some of the new wave of prog-jazz bands including trend-setting organ trio Troyka. The guitarist has also cancelled a tour planned for Mexico in November and December. Allan Holdsworth pictured
