The EFG London Jazz Festival organisers have confirmed details of the tribute concert to Kenny Wheeler planned for 19 November at Cadogan Hall.
Dave Holland and Wheeler’s former Azimuth colleague Norma Winstone are to take part and there’s also a trio appearance with Nikki Iles as part of the line-up touching on the late-period Mirrors project which is also to involve members of the London Vocal Project.
Henry Lowther, Mark Lockheart, Stan Sulzmann, John Parricelli, Gwilym Simcock, Chris Laurence and Martin France are also to perform, and there will be a free improv element involving Evan Parker and the group Foxes Fox – Steve Beresford, John Edwards and Louis Moholo-Moholo – joined by trumpeter Percy Pursglove. The concert will also include a solo set by American guitarist Ralph Towner.
