It’s looking like a late-February release for Faces, the new album from David Lyttle.

On his most high profile release to date drummer Lyttle is joined by Blue Note label saxophone legend Joe Lovano, hip hop star Talib Kweli, the vaudevillian pop star Duke Special (who Lyttle and Soweto Kinch appeared with at the 2014 Brilliant Corners festival), and jazz singer Cleveland Watkiss who gigged earlier in the year with Lyttle at Bennigans bar in Derry, and who features on the catchy title track.

Recorded in New York, London, Dublin, and Lyttle’s home studio, Faces also includes spots by rappers Homecut and iLLspokinN; bassist Keith Duffy of The Corrs; Lyttle’s vocalist sister Rhea and singer mother Anne; ex-Jeff Beck keyboardist Jason Rebello and Lyte labelmate saxophonist Jean Toussaint; soul singer Natalie Oliveri; rapper Zane; and saxophonists Meilana Gillard from the David Lyttle 3 and Tom Harrison. The new Lyte label album appears three years on from Lyttle’s soul, hip-hop, and beats-flavoured collection Interlude. SG
