Decca Studios and Klooks Kleek: West Hampstead’s Musical Heritage Remembered
, a new book about Decca studios and the 1960s jazz and blues club Klooks Kleek, is published by The History Press this month.

Written by the authors of Images of London: Camden Town and Kentish Town Dick Weindling and Marianne Colloms the book tells the story of the Decca recording studios in Broadhurst Gardens, West Hampstead, north London, which operated there from 1937-1980, and of jazz and blues club Klooks Kleek, a club that owed its unusual name to the inspiration provided by the title of a 1956 release on the Savoy label of Klook's Clique by bebop drummer Kenny Clarke. The club was in existence from 1961-1970 in the Railway Hotel next door to the studios.

The authors will be presenting an illustrated talk about the studios and the colourful history of Klooks Kleek based on their researches for the book at West End Lane Books on Monday 18 November at 7.30 http://www.welbooks.co.uk
