There can’t be that many jazz bands who claim their own bar as hq. But step forward London eight piece Kansas Smitty’s House Band who do just that in the east end at Broadway market.

And musically they’re no slouches either debuting their mix of KC jazz, New Orleans funk, washed down with chasers of trad and swing on CD in the absence of shellac.

And in a change of scene and style on New Year’s Eve at Pizza Express Jazz Club the four piece Big Four version of the band will play the Soho club’s New Year’s Eve party taking over from the smooth and jazz-funk sounds of G Funk, fixtures on Dean Street for several consecutive years on this special year-end night.
