Nérija play the Yorkshire Water-sponsored Marsden Jazz Festival this year, the line-up of which has just been announced.

Very much still at the word of mouth stage the Tomorrow’s Warriors-rooted all-female band, who emerge from the heart of the acoustic hard bop tradition laid down by the likes of Joe Henderson and Freddie Hubbard, are on many people’s must-hear lists and make the Marsden selection a particularly good one far from the band’s south London heartland among many other goodies on offer in the west Yorkshire town fest’s special 25th running held over 7-9 October.

Who’s on besides Nérija, well take a look at the festival site linked to below for your favourites. Names that caught my eye particularly are Jazz Jamaica and The Impossible Gentlemen. Look out for an artisan market, street stuff, shed loads of new bands, and as well as the ticketed events more than 60 free-entry gigs that the organisers have laid on.
