There are a lot of tributes on Twitter from fellow musicians and fans following the death of prog jazz legendary Soft Machine and Bill Bruford guitarist Allan Holdsworth at the age of 70. His daughter Louise has posted the sad news. An influence on a range of leading new generation jazz players including young guns such as Chris Montague his inspiration cascaded down on to many rock, jazz, notably John McLaughlin, and prog greats. Joe Satriani for one on Twitter commented “You remain an enormous inspiration to me. Your beautiful music will live on forever”. Vernon Reid put it this way: “A giant of electric guitar. Jazz. Rock. Prog. Hero to generations”. Steve Lukather wrote: “He changed the game and was the sweetest guy ever.”
