“He is sonic, he is time, he is gesture,” that’s how Open Loose bassist Mark Helias described Tony Malaby in the liner notes to Malaby’s trio record Tamarindo.

You can find out for yourself if Helias is on to something at Dublin’s Bello bar this month as the relatively new Dublin jazz spot is playing host to the Malaby trio on Wednesday 14 May for a rare Irish appearance. Avant tenor saxophonist Malaby, originally from Tuczon, Arizona, appears with bassist Olie Brice and drummer Jeff Williams.
