Taking place from 22-27 July the festival runs in tandem with the summer school the faculty of which this year is comprised of Alan Broadbent, Judy Niemack, Derico Watson, Paul Clarvis, Steve Davis, John Goldsby, Steve Rodby, Andy Middleton, Cathal Roche, Matthew Halpin, Linley Hamilton, Jeanfrançois Prins, and Mike Nielsen.

Judy Niemack

The Bad Plus will play the Hawk's Well theatre on the opening night. Their brand new album has its origins in a commission by Duke University and Lincoln Center, and tackles Stravinsky’s iconoclastic work The Rite of Spring, their most audacious choice in terms of reaching beyond genre to date. Their first album since 2012’s excellent Made Possible it’s a thrilling, highly anarchic album that takes considerable liberties with the groundbreaking work. Iverson’s airy naked piano lines jut into piles of controlled dissonances pumping out space like a high functioning smoke machine to challenge our perceptions. Iverson also features on another must-hear record recently released, One is the Other.
