His name has been on the lips of jazz insiders on the London club scene for a while but it’s only now that drummer Phelan Burgoyne actually makes his debut.

Born in 1994 Burgoyne studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London with Jeff Williams and Martin France and the Jazz Campus, Basel with Jorge Rossy, Jeff Ballard, Larry Grenadier and Guillermo Klein.

And it’s his trio, with ex-ECM artist saxophonist Martin Speake and guitarist Rob Luft who he surfaces with on an airily spacious set of instrumentals.

Titled Unquiet Quiet you can listen to a taste of the album, above.
